Simon Becks (Scrutton House 1960-65)

Simon Becks died suddenly but peacefully at his home in France on August 16th 2023.

Throughout his time at Mill Hill Simon was a member of the chapel choir and with the support and encouragement of Sidney Barlow, then the director of music, was an excellent tenor soloist in the summer concerts of 1964 and 1965 when the full chapel choir and augmented Choral Society performed the Mozart and Verdi Requiems.

Simon committed himself to his accountancy practice and its clients and devoted himself to his family but re-engaged with Mill Hill at the time of the bicentenary in 2007. He also renewed his involvement with Mill Hill music and participated with enthusiasm in a number of the Kevin Kyle spectaculars.

Simon always spoke with fondness and gratitude of his time at Mill Hill and with huge appreciation of the opportunity given to him, as to so many others, by the Middlesex scheme.

Our thoughts are with his family.
