CAREERS SUPPORT
The Old Millhillians’ community has people working in all kinds of professional occupations, and, as such, provides a rich resource for school pupils, and young, and not so young, Old Millhillians to explore for advice, career insights and possible work experience. The Club has a Careers Committee that works closely with the school and OM. It also has a website exclusively dedicated to helping students and Old Millhillians explore career ideas to make better informed career decisions.
Mentoring
Establishing links with experienced OMs who are already well along their career path can provide insights and commentary to assist younger OMs in their decision making.
Work Experience
OM university students and pupils have already made use of the OM Community to find work experience. Networking events may also provide advice and opportunities for finding work experience.
Professional Networking Events
The Club promotes a well-established and evolving programme of ‘Professional Networking Events”. Full details of how to sign up to these events are sent out by the Club office, and all are listed in the calendar on the Club’s main website and on the Club’s Careers website.
Professional Networking Groups
The Careers Committee is planning to establish Groups of common professional interest where OMs can share experiences, successes, publications etc. Details of how to join a Group will be published as soon as possible.
YOMs (Young Old Millhillians).
See the links to establish contact with this group of OMs and network and attend their events. These can be very valuable for gaining insights into their working worlds…in addition to being highly sociable events too! Link here.
Other Networking Opportunities
The Club has both a Linked-in page and is on Facebook. Why not sign up if you haven’t already to link with your community, and to learn of events, both social and professional. Visit LinkedIn.
The careers committee is always keen to hear from members with ideas for the future development of this service; please just email: omrelations@omcclub.co.uk
