With the death of David on 22nd October 2009, we sadly lose not only a great Middlesex man but also an immense character, friend and supporter. He will be sadly missed and, really, he is irreplaceable.
Educated at Mill Hill School, (Winterstoke 50 -54), he served in the RAF during the period of National Service.
He joined the Middlesex Committee in 1967 as the representative of Bank of England RFC, the club for which he played for many years and of which he was President for many seasons. As a Life Vice President of Middlesex County RFU he continued as a member of the General Committee.
He joined the County Clubs’ Committee in 1969 until they were disbanded in 1996 and for much of that time he Chaired the Committee.
He was an ever present member of the Tours Committee and County Clubs’ tours to Belgium, Holland, France, Germany, Denmark, Spain, Portugal, Croatia and Rumania had a huge impact on the development of the Game in Europe.
He became the County Archivist in season 2007-08 and continued in that role until his death. A fine trencherman, a great friend and a wonderful promoter, organiser, administrator and supporter of Rugby Union Football.
