Antony Hopkins (Scrutton 1957-61)
We are very sad to announce that Antony died in May 2025.
His kind and positive attitude to life enabled Antony to cope bravely with Parkinson’s for the last 20 years of his life. His wife, Patricia, pre-deceased him in 2019.
At Mill Hill he was a Prefect and enjoyed representing the school in hockey, cricket and rugby.
'His hallmark kindness even spread to the ranks below him - He was a delightful fag master and he made my first year at Mill Hill almost enjoyable.' Bill Ivens.
Antony is survived by his three daughters Abigail, Clare and Emily. Antony is also survived by his four brothers Roger, Martin, John and David who were continuously at Mill Hill from 1953 to 1970 – believed to be a record for one family.
His father Dudley Hopkins also attended Belmont (1922-27) and Mill Hill (School 1927-29). Antony trained in retail and worked with department stores in England and New Zealand before becoming a Director of Nurdin and Peacock.
