Colin Barnes (Burton Bank 1949-54)

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Colin Barnes who died at home on 28th August.

"I was his senior registrar at the London Hospital as it was known from 1985-1989. He was an outstanding physician, kind, caring and had leadership qualities. He looked after patients with severe and disabling arthritis. He was very supportive. He lead the research on Behçet’s disease in the UK and was an international authority on the disease. He was an excellent speaker, teacher and trainer.

In 1996, he retired and I was appointed consultant to take over his clinical duties. When we met after my appointment, he told me he was very pleased for the patients as I knew most of them and he thought they would be safe under my care".

Colin rest in peace.
