Andrew Welch (McClure 1975 - 1980)

I am saddened and lost for words to advise you of the sudden death of Andrew Welch on Easter Monday morning. He had a heart attack. There was no link to Covid-19.

Andrew was a dedicated Old Millhillian on so many fronts. He was a long-serving Governor to the Court, a Trustee of Alford House, a Life Guardian, a member of the Old Millhillians Management Committee and an Oaker.

Those of us who knew him will remember him as a person of integrity, commitment and empathy. Andrew was always available and a great listener. Over the past years, I have regularly turned to him for advice and feedback on a wide range of matters. The Management Committee will greatly miss his counsel and guidance, as will the Foundation.

He had only recently embarked on a new career as a teacher and it is tragic that he should be taken from us at such a young age.

Our thoughts at this most difficult time are especially with his family: his widow Joanna, parents David and Philippa, three daughters - Rosie, Amy and Eliza (all of whom are OMs) - his brother Jonathan (McClure 1978 – 1984), and son-in-law Greg (Cedars 2005 – 2010).
