Roy Stroud, (Weymouth 1945-50), who died on the 24th April 2011 was born in Bradford and educated at Mill Hill School. In the 2nd world war he was seriously wounded in Libya in 1942 before recovering to fight again and rise to the rank of Major. He worked in textiles achieving significant accolades including Chairman of the British Wool Textile Confederation (1974-76) before his retirement in 1980. He was Life President of Bradford Synagogue, always combining a full Jewish life with full engagement in the wider community. 1n 1981 he was made an OBE and Deputy Lieutenant for West Yorkshire the following year.
