Invitation to Legal Networking Event – Guest Speaker, Dame Lady Vivien Rose

Whether you are considering law as a career, studying law, on the career ladder, or an established or retired lawyer, the OM Legal Event is an opportunity to socialise, network and this year to hear from a Justice of the UK's Supreme Court.

Dame Vivien Rose became a Justice of the Supreme Court on 19 April 2021.

She was called to the Bar by Gray's Inn in 1984 and was in private practice for ten years. She was appointed Standing Counsel to the Director General of Fair Trading in 1992. In 1995 she left private practice and joined the Government Legal Service serving as legal adviser on financial services at HM Treasury until 2001. In 2002 she moved to the Ministry of Defence as Director of Operational and International Humanitarian Law. From 2002 to 2008 she was seconded to the Office of Counsel to the Speaker of the House of Commons. From 2006 onwards she was appointed to various judicial posts. She was appointed as a High Court Judge in 2013 and was President of the Upper Tribunal (Tax and Chancery) between 2015 and 2018. She was appointed to the Court of Appeal in January 2019.

The Legal Event includes drinks and a buffet, with the venue giving fine views of St Paul's Cathedral. Our Guest Speaker's talk will talk about "Career Choices, and Life in the Supreme Court" and be followed by a short Q and A session.
